Walter Heywood

Walter Heywood died on Thursday 24 September in Oakford Manor Nursing Home at the age of 94. His funeral will take place at Dukinfield Crematorium on Wednesday 7th October at 10.30. Walter was originally from near Eccles and joined the army at the age of 19. He spent the Second World War on the frontline with Montgomery's Tactical Headquarters and remained in Germany at the HQ of British Army of the Rhine until 1946. After being demobbed he became an architect and raised his family in Glossop. His wife Doreen predeceased him and he is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Walter was passionate about music and literature and will be greatly missed by his many friends.
